25th February 2021 [By email]

We are open from Monday 29th March!

We were delighted to hear this week's Government announcement which gives us permission to open on Monday 29th March 2021 - we cannot wait!  Like many others, our team are awaiting more clarification from the Government so we can finalise our own "roadmap" but we wanted to share our broad plans with you now.

  • Membership payments - These remain paused for March's subscriptions.
  • Tennis and Padel Tennis - These can resume outdoors on Monday 29th March! We believe we can deliver some of our Club programme too, including the possibility of Easter Camps for your children. Indoor activities are likely to return on Monday 12th April, in line with the Government's plans.
  • Fitness Classes - Our online timetable will be extended from Monday 29th March and we are reviewing some options that would allow on-site sessions in April. We will keep you posted!
  • Gym and Pool - Our gym and swimming pool will be open on Monday 12th April, provided the Government moves successfully into their Step 2 phase on time.
  • Squash and Racketball - This will return on Monday 12th April, provided the Government moves successfully into their Step 2 phase on time.
  • Creche, Shop, and Bar & Restaurant - We are still reviewing these areas and will advise as soon as possible.

Delivering a first-class service in a safe environment, despite the current challenges, remains a priority for us so we ask for your patience whilst we navigate through the Government information as it is released. We will share more details, including booking information, as soon as possible.

Please continue to check your email, this website, and social media channels for updates. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly.

We cannot wait to open our doors on Monday 29th March and look forward to welcoming you back!

Best wishes,

22nd February 2021 [Website and Social Media Channels]

[In response to the Government's key annoucement] As always, we follow the Government updates closely. Our team will be meeting this week and a member communication will follow reflecting the latest announcements.

Please help our team by waiting for our communication before you email them as we're confident it will answer common queries!  Thank you in advance for your patience whilst we finalise our next steps.

We continue to feel reassured by the speed of the vaccination programme and with Spring in the air, we feel encouraged about post-lockdown life and cannot wait to open our doors!

8th February 2021 [Email]

A month has passed since our last update and we continue to monitor the Government news closely.  Disappointingly, for now, our status is unchanged - all facilities are closed and, as such, membership subscriptions have been paused.

We remain confident that sports and fitness centres will be amongst the first places permitted to re-open based on previous experience and because of the health and wellbeing benefits on offer; an increasing priority for many.  We are reassured by the success of the vaccination programme and with Spring approaching, we feel encouraged about post-lockdown life.

Our small 'lockdown' team is working hard to provide you with a contact channel during lockdown and to ensure we have a smooth re-opening when the Government gives us permission.  Last week, a professional company spent time cleaning our indoor courts which are now gleaming and ready to welcome players!  We hope the wait will not be much longer.

In the meantime, remember there are online fitness classes six days a week and a library of pre-recorded sessions on our website.  Please continue to check our websitesocial media channels, and your email for key updates.

We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me directly.  Thank you for your continued support, it is appreciated.

I'd like to end this note by sharing a quote sent to me by one of our oldest members, 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'.

Best wishes,

Peter D Elviss
Chief Executive

6th January 2021 [Email]

We were disappointed to hear the Government announcing a new national lockdown this week but, as we move towards the end of this global pandemic, we understand the importance of following the guidelines to keep everyone as safe as possible.

The situation for the Club remains unchanged - regrettably our doors must remain closed for the time being.  Below is a copy of the member communication sent on 31st December 2020, prior to national lockdown, which answers frequently asked questions. Please note your January payment will be credited when we re-open and be reassured that we have paused February's payment.

There is a small team working behind the scenes with me and we plan to meet weekly to address any new information from the Government and supporting bodies (ie. LTA) along with member questions.  We will continue to communicate key updates via email, website, and social media channels.

If you have any questions about your membership, please email info@westhants.co.uk where a small team are monitoring emails, Monday to Friday.

For now, we wish all our members and your loved ones a happy and healthy start to 2021 despite the unusual circumstances.  Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the Club, it is enormously appreciated by us all.

Best wishes,

Peter D Elviss
Chief Executive

31st December 2020 [Email]

Like many across the country, we continue to closely follow the latest Government announcements and with Tier 4 confirmed for our area, Club life is on pause as we sadly close our doors until further notice.

We hope the following information answers some of the key questions you may have.

What will happen to my membership payment for January?
The Direct Debit was already in place before the Government's announcement.  If we successfully collect your January payment, we will credit you accordingly when we are allowed to re-open. Our annual payers will have their renewal date extended - we will write to you separately closer to your renewal date with details.

Subscriptions and membership changes will be paused whilst we remain in Tier 4.

Will all areas of the Club be closed?

Yes, all areas, including our outdoor courts. Westover CrossFit will not be running. Members, along with RPDC and Academy Juniors, will not be able to enter the Club during the Government's lockdown.

Will your online class timetable be running?
Yes!  We plan to re-introduce some of the classes we ran during November's lockdown during the period of Club closure so check your email inbox every Friday for links to classes for the week ahead. Pre-recorded classes and sessions from our first lockdown are also still available to view on our website.

Can I still have personal training outside?
According to the latest Government guidelines, you can enjoy one-to-one, socially distanced, personal training sessions in public areas (ie. not private gardens). If you would like to arrange this, please speak directly to your personal trainer.

I am mid-way through a paid course - what happens next?
Any weeks missed will be adjusted accordingly from next term's course.

What is happening to the Club Championships?
These matches were being rescheduled.  We will provide an update as soon as possible but this may not be confirmed until after lockdown so we ask for your patience.

Can I contact the West Hants Team during lockdown?
Yes, we will have a small Membership and Communications team working reduced hours, from home, during lockdown. You can email them at info@westhants.co.uk, Monday to Friday.  We ask for your patience as the team reply to all messages.

How will you keep members updated?
We will continue to update our website's News page and social media channels, along with emails so keep an eye on your inbox too!  As before, copies of key emails sent will be available to view on our website.

Please note our standard cancellation policy remains in place so if you wish to cancel, please provide one calendar month's notice in writing via info@westhants.co.uk . Please note that should you cancel and wish to rejoin in the future, a joining fee will be payable.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and patience.  2020 was a year no one expected however we remain committed to improving the health of our members and staff - it is of the utmost importance to us and we are determined that our community will have a strong 2021 despite the unusual circumstances.

With best wishes for the New Year for you and your loved ones,

Peter D Elviss
Chief Executive

30th December 2020 [Email]

Following the Government's announcement this afternoon, we will be closing our doors (and phone lines) at 10pm tonight until further notice.

A more detailed email will follow tomorrow which aims to answer common questions so we ask for your patience whilst we finalise the details.

Please note the Direct Debit for your January subscription is already in place so this will be collected as usual and we will instead credit you accordingly when we are allowed to re-open.  Please help our teams by waiting for tomorrow's detailed communication before you email us with any queries.  Emails sent to info@westhants.co.uk will be monitored by a small team, Monday to Friday, during the period of Club closure.

In better news, our online classes will continue starting with GRIT at 9am on 31st December - registration details are waiting in your inbox.  We are determined to start 2021 strong!
