National Premier League Match Updates by Team Captain, Jane Bingham

28th June 2021 - WH qualify for the play off!

Despite a tough loss to Halton on Sunday, West Hants have qualified for the play off for national team tennis!

Aisling, Taz, Mollie, and Jane played some incredibly tough opposition at Halton, the defending champions.

Former West Hants player, Elizabeth Maloney lead Halton, with fellow world ranked player, Danielle Daley just edging Taz in a 3rd set breaker. Mollie had her chances against Louise Holtum, ranked 4 ratings higher than Mollie, and Jane narrowly lost 6-4 6-4 against Lucy Brown.

The doubles were entertaining, but again WH were just the wrong side of the winning line.  It was a good experience, and will hopefully stand us in good stead for the playoff.

14th June 2021 - WH win against East Glos

West Hants won against East Glos and here's how!

  • Lisa Hanley won 6-0 6-0
  • Erin Richardson won in 3 sets, was great to have her back!
  • Annie Lammas ground out a 7-5 6-2 win, and we won both doubles
  • Captain Jane won too - we're awaiting the score!

Next match away at King's in Bristol on Sunday...

27th April 2021 - WH face old rival Bath

West Hants succumbed to old rival Bath Uni by the tightest of margins.

Amelia Stuart lead the team and battled hard to win her singles in 3 tight sets. Annie Lammas, making her debut, won in straight sets, as did Captain Jane Bingham.  Lorelei Sanderson was facing a tough foe and lost her singles. Needing to win just 1 doubles, both teams fought hard, but ultimately lost.  This lead to a tie break shootout. West Hants won the first, lost the 2nd, and the third 10-8.

An unlucky first match, but great team spirit, and lovely hoodies.  Thanks to sponsor,  Redwood Business Finance!

Next match 16th May....
