Padel courts - an update!
Posted on 24th Apr 2025
[Also sent to members by email]
I would like to begin by expressing my thanks to all members who committed to a Five-Year membership. Your support has made it possible for the club to construct two additional courts and renovate our existing one.
The purpose of this email is to inform all members about the operational procedures for the courts.
Timescale
Bookings for the new courts will start from Friday 25th April with the courts opening on Friday 2nd May at 4pm. At time of emailing, advance bookings will be available as follows:
- NEW Court 1 - bookable from tomorrow (25th April)
- NEW Court 2 - booking to be advised, please keep checking for updates but we are hopeful that this will also be open on Friday 2nd May and bookings will open as soon as possible.
- Court 3 (our existing court) - bookable from tomorrow.
Please note, once both new courts are open then Court 3 will be closed for refurbishment. We will share further details when we can.
Opening Hours
All 3 courts will be bookable on the hour from 9am – 9pm Monday to Friday (last court 8pm to 9pm) and 9am – 6pm Saturday and Sunday (last court 5pm to 6pm).
Court Allocation
All Full members will be entitled to play four hours per week (Monday-Sunday) free of charge. This includes any form of activities i.e. coaching, club days and members play.
Courts 1 and 2 are designated for adult use only, while Court 3 is open to adults, juniors aged 16 and above, families (juniors aged 15 and under must be supervised courtside by a parent), and coaching.
You can refer to the Club rules on our website for additional padel court guidelines.
Colour Grading
All players will get a padel colour grading similar to the tennis grading at West Hants from red to black. Coach Chris Cant is in the process of colour grading most of the current regular padel players at the Club as this will be needed for Club nights and other padel events. If you would like to play in Club nights and do not currently have a colour grading please email Chris: chris.cant@westhants.co.uk
Club Programme
The Club padel programme can be viewed here. All Full members can book onto the new free Cub night every Wednesday from 5pm starting from Wednesday 14th May. It will be bookable via the app or at Reception from 12pm on the day and will be based on your colour grading.
For beginners who are new to the sport and are not confident playing a full game of padel yet we will be running 6 week Padel Xpress courses to learn the basics. Please ask Reception for more details - the team can also book you onto the course.
Padel doubles leagues will start at the end of May. If you would like to play in them please email chris.cant@westhants.co.uk with your partners name. If you don’t have a partner we can help you find one!
A new Wednesday night menu
To celebrate the new courts we will be launching a Spanish menu with a drinks promotion on Wednesday evenings from 6pm – 8.30pm, starting from 14th May, to coincide with Padel Club night and our internal Racketball tournament.
Share the news with your friends - we will say thank you with Club vouchers!
We're celebrating the opening of our brand-new courts with a *free joining fee* offer until 5th May! Spread the word because it's an ideal time to join. Remember if they write down your name when signing up, you’ll receive vouchers to spend on our daily Bar menu (food) or Club shop as a thank you from us!
Neighbours
I would like to kindly remind players that our club is located in a residential area. We ask everyone to conduct themselves respectfully, avoid using any inappropriate or offensive language, and follow the padel etiquette rules displayed on the courts
