Aegon Team Tennis National Finals - reports

Posted on 14th Sep 2017

Firstly, congratulations to our very own West Hants Teams who qualified for the finals and came joint 5th / 6th nationally. They each lost their first main draw match but won their next match in the consolation draw.

Match Report from Men's Team Captain Andy Phillips

West Hants men were pleased to be back in the Aegon Team Tennis finals after missing out for a few years. Our first day was a tough re-introduction by being drawn against A1 Pharmaceuticals who had won the competition for the last 3 years. Although we went down 4-0, each of the singles matches were not one sided affairs and every home player went down fighting.

Day 2 saw us up against David Lloyd Sunderland in the playback to finish 5th/6th nationally. Due to the weather the matches were moved indoors and reduced to short sets. Winning 3 of the 4 singles matches we needed just 1 more win in the doubles which we did first time of asking. Team spirit during the campaign was particularly good and every member of the squad of 6 was involved. Overall it was a pleasing weekend and nice to be back mixing with the elite.
