Coaches
The West Hants Coaching Team has a wealth of experience and expertise in all aspects of the game. From coaches who have over 30 years of coaching experience to newly qualified coaches who have recently come off the tour.
The team all have defined roles and there is a great balance of youth and experience across the team within the different elements of the coaching programme.
All the coaching team offer individual lessons and rates are based on level of qualification and overall experience.
The team is committed to developing every player within the programme and offering advice and guidance no matter what your level. The great qualities amongst the team are their shared enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism for the sport.
Biographies

Mark Reid
Director of Tennis
Mark was appointed as Director of Tennis in March 1999 having worked for the LTA for the previous 7 years in both Oxfordshire as County Development Coaching Officer(92-96) and Essex as County Development Officer(96-99).
He is responsible for managing the tennis team and overseeing all aspects of the coaching programme.
He played County tennis for Hereford & Worcestershire and Regional tennis for the West Midlands. He was County U18 winner for 4 consecutive years which remains a County record.
Mark is a fully licensed coach and holds the Performance Coach Award, having qualified as a coach in 1986.
He has been tutoring for the LTA for the past 15 years and tutors on a range of the coach education courses. As an LTA Coach Education tutor he delivers courses up to the senior coach qualification on the LTA awards.
He also has a 2:1 BA(Hons) in Sports Studies from Newcastle where he graduated in 1992.

Sasha Wood
Sports Manager
A one time West Hants junior member and Talbot Heath ball girl for the State Express Tennis Championships of Great Britain (held at West Hants) Sasha returned to Bournemouth in 1995 as Sports Manager at The West Hants Club after studying Leisure Management and working at the Delta Tennis Centre in Swindon.
Sasha is responsible primarily for co-ordinating and running the Club’s tennis events and tournaments both internal (Club run) and external (LTA run). In additional to the tournaments Sasha also organises all team fixtures and runs the members only singles and doubles leagues.
Sasha is Tournament Director of the Bournemouth Open and the 14 & Under Tennis Europe events held during the summer. She is also tournament organiser and one of the joint referees for the Club tournaments ranging from Junior Club Championships (including the Road to Wimbledon 14&U event) to the Veterans Club Championships and the Open Age Club Tournament.
Occasionally you may see Sasha on poolside teaching swimming and from time to time you may also see her organising Thursday Club Night sessions.

Sarah-Jane Wright
Administrator
Sarah-Jane has worked at the West Hants Club for the past 12 years, initially as Receptionist and for the past 9 years as Tennis Administrator. Her main role is to deal with tennis administration connected with Invitational Squads, Talbot Heath, Bournemouth Collegiate and Club Programme players. She also organises West Hants Hoodies and maintains the Achievements Board.
Sarah-Jane has a Bilingual Secretarial Diploma and spent 4 years in Paris working in the following companies : GEC France, Clifford Chance, Knoll International. She has also worked in the following local companies : Anglo-Continental and New Look (Head Office).

James Pankhurst
Performance Manager
James started working at West Hants in 2001 and is the Performance Manager. James is a fully licensed LTA coach and holds the performance coach award and LTA master performance coach awards. Previously James has worked as an Academy coach at Millfield school and Loughborough LTA Academy. He was also Great Britain Wheelchair Tennis National Coach from 2001 – 2004.
James studied at Loughborough University where he was a member of the Tennis 1st team and achieved a Bsc Honours degree in Physical Education, Sports Science and Recreation Management.
James has a current LTA rating of 3.2 and plays senior county tennis for Somerset and the West Hants mens teams.
In 2006 James won the Dorset LTA coach of the year award and in 2002 he was named LTA Coach of the Year.

Maz Bury
Strength & Conditioning Manger
Maz Bury is a 'UKSCA' fully accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach and has been working at the West Hants Club with performance tennis players since 2005. Her role as 'Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Manager' includes coordinating the S&C squad programmes, liaising with coaches, physiotherapists and the LTA staff, organizing regular fitness testing & physiotherapy screenings as well as working individually with the players to help them be in peak physical condition. S&C is multi-faceted; it must involve a carefully planned progressive programme of stability, strength, power, speed, agility, coordination, flexibility and endurance.
Before moving to West Hants, Maz's passion for sport and education started at Exeter University where she gained her BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science. It was here that she captained the University's 1st netball team, received her University "colours" and won a national fitness competition! On leaving Exeter, Maz’s fascination with movement mechanics and sports injuries then led her to study for another two years to achieve a first-class postgraduate qualification from St. Mary's (Twickenham) in 'Sports Rehabilitation'. She then continued to live in London working mainly in the fields of injury rehab, sports massage and personal training. During this time, her weekends were spent working with Staines U19 RFC and Surry rugby U15s doing their pitch-side first aid and injury rehabilitation.
Maz is passionate about helping players to develop an explosive, balanced and injury-free body. Her personal love of sport combined with her experience and qualifications in the field help her to deliver considered, structured and progressive programmes for the players here at West Hants.

Rob Booth
Talbot Heath Academy
Rob Started working at The West Hants in 1984. He became tennis director at David Lloyd Ringwood in 1994 and became Dorset county performance officer in 1997 based at West Hants. Rob is a former LTA National coach, and is now responsible for the day to day running of the West Hants Talbot Heath academy.
Rob is a fully licensed LTA coach and is PCA upgraded.
Rob has represented Great Britain at u.18, u.21 over 35 and over 40 levels. He is a former British number 12 and achieved a Highest World Ranking of 510.

Shane Deacon
Mini Tennis & Schools Co-ordinator
Shane has been coaching tennis since 1993. He holds a valid Licence and PCA qualification. Shane started working at West Hants at the start of 2010 as the U10 Co-ordinator having previously been Head Coach of Totally Tennis Basingstoke and Director of Core Tennis (USA).
Shane has won the BTCA/LTA Young Coach of the Year Darren Toop Award and in 2007 was awarded the Basingstoke Sports Council Professional Coach of the Year.
Shane is a former LTA/BTCA Coach Education Tutor and is passionate about seeing children improve and develop into young adults.

James White
Mini Tennis Green
James has been working at The West Hants Club since 2006. James is a licensed LTA coach and has the DCA Coach award.
James studied at Bournemouth University and has a Bsc (hons) degree in Sports development and coaching sciences and it was during his studies that James had a placement year working at West Hants after which he became a full time member of the coaching team.
James played tennis for the University tennis first team as well as the football and badminton teams. He continues to play senior county tennis for Lincolnshire.
James has previous experience in coaching football, handball and basketball.

Aviran Reuven
Mini Tennis Red & Orange
Aviran has worked at West Hants since 2000. He is a fully licensed LTA coach with a CCA performance coach award.
Aviran has previously played basketball to a semi-professional level and has ten years of coaching experience in Basketball.
Aviran has coached players to National level and heads the 9 & under age group programme (mini tennis red & orange) within the mini tennis programme. His role includes advising parents and players about tournaments, training programmes, planning and implementation of our mini tennis coaching programme.
Aviran's passion is inspiring young people to play the game of tennis and seeing young players develop their skills in order to become very good tennis players and great all round athletes.

Roger Dibblin
Roger was born on 27th July 1962. He lives in Bournemouth with his wife and daughter. He is a fully licensed LTA coach with both DCA and CCA (development) qualifications.
Roger has a significant sporting background having played county badminton as a junior and both football and cricket for the town. His passion for the game of tennis inspired his career where he is now in his 14th year of coaching at the West Hants Club.
Roger coaches all ages and all standards with a good record of producing players. He is an integral part of the mini tennis team and heads up the adult programme. He has been Dorset County Cup, 9U Captain 2009/2010, with his teams performing well both years, coming runners up and winners respectively. As Adult Programme coordinator responsibilities include implementing the new grading system and running a series of events throughout the year.

Maciej Bujak
Maciej joined West Hants Club as Club Coach in June 2004 from Poznan (Poland) where he had been the Development Coach in PZT Club since 2000. Maciej is a fully licensed LTA coach with the CCA qualification. Maciej works in the Adult Programme, U10 Invitational and Schools Programme.
He started his career in tennis by graduating from Poznan University of Physical Education with Coaching Science MSc degree and BA (Honours) Primary Education QTS degree. During his studies he was a Socrates-Erasmus scholar at University of Thrace in Greece and member of University Sport Research Team.
Maciej has played County and Regional tennis throughout his junior days. Later joined Team to represent Poznan University.

Andy Drake
Andy was born on 24th June 1977 and joined the West Hants Club in March 1999. He started as a duty manager but in 2004 he joined the tennis coaching team. He qualified in September 2001 when he took his development Coach Award and 3 years later took his Club Coach Award qualification.
Andy works within the mini Tennis club and invitational programme as well as coaching all levels of adults within the clubs grading system.
He is also the Schools co-ordinator for the club where he has links with different schools in the area.
Andy gives tennis inductions to new members where he will asses their playing standard to see where they fit into the clubs programme.
Outside of work Andy is a keen golfer and on days off you can find him on the course brushing up his skills.

Scott Holland
Mini Tennis Competitions
Scott has worked at the West Hants club for five years and is a fully licensed LTA coach with a DCA qualification.
Scott has qualifications is sports science and comes from a large sporting background.
He is currently part of the mini tennis team being the Mini Tennis tournament and Junior programme coordinator for the club.

Richard Irwin
Is an LTA qualified Senior Performance Coach and has been working at The West Hants Club as part of the High Performance Centre since 2008. His role at the club is helping performance players aged 12-18 within squads and individuals, whilst helping to co-ordinate the AASE Programme along with Mark Reid. He also overlooks the performance tennis programme at Bournemouth University.
Before coaching at West Hants, Richard was a professional tennis player spending 6 years on the circuit. He reached world ranking highs of 98 as an ITF Junior, 705-ATP Singles Ranking, 430-ATP Doubles Ranking, and got to number 12 in the GB Men's rankings. He spent most of his full time career based in London with the LTA and had the opportunity to travel the world playing Junior Grandslams (Australia, Wimbledon), Futures, Challengers and a Grandslam Qualifying event at Wimbledon. With all these achievements, his claim to fame is that he still holds a 1-0 head to head record against Andy Murray.
